God of every season

It’s human nature to feel good or bad depending on the circumstances around ourselves. We hope for good things to happen to us and we avoid bad things whenever possible. The device which can change bad times into happy times has not been invented, and likely never will. The best we can come up with is little screens which keep us distracted and occupied for a while.

For the person who trusts in God, the changing seasons hold no fear or anxiety. No matter what challenge they face their heavenly Father leads them to bigger and better things. And- in times of trouble- He will lead them beside the still waters. To rest, refresh, and to go on.

“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.”

Isaiah 43.2

total facelift

Plenty of people getting cosmetic work around the place so we thought we’d get a facelift- for the church building, that is !

We asked the good people of Mick’s Steam Cleaning to make our 148 year old sandstone like new and that’s just what they did. It looks like the stone was just laid a week or two ago after they pressure cleaned the outside of the building. They also cleaned the ground stone and walls around the church. And if it sounds like are given the company a shout out that’s because we are! This is a local business in Putney and they were very reasonable and super accommodating. We recommend them highly.

Note of interest: Did you know that our church property was originally purchased with the help of newspaper magnate John Fairfax in the late 1800s? He donated 100 pounds for the purchase with the proviso that the congregation had to pay the other 100 pounds to get the land.

let there be lighting

Our church building on Alexandra Street has received a lighting makeover. Our goal is to highlight the features of our historic building including our 100 year plus old organ. We have also replaced our old projector screen with a sparkling QLED TV monitor adding sharpness to our media presentations.

Our new lighting will compliment our wonderful site and be a place that features vocal and instrumental concerts. It will enable our historic venue to be a focal point for community music and church worship.

Life Congregational Church is located at the corner of Ferdinand and Alexandra streets, Hunters Hill. Our Sunday service commences at 10am
