forgiveness is not a dirty word
Forgiving is hard. Really flipping hard. People who hurt us don’t deserve our forgiveness. But likewise, we don’t deserve the forgiveness of those we hurt either. This is why it’s crazy that the Bible teaches that God forgives us. We don’t deserve such graciousness. We certainly don’t merit it. What’s more we usually re-offend. But that’s God’s way and we are glad that it is.
He expects us to follow His example and do likewise. Why is that? Because unforgiveness is bad for us. It binds and restricts us. It can lead to mental, emotional and even physical ill health. It is also toxic and will invade every part of our lives like a hungry white ant. This is why it is smart to accept God’s way and forgive others.
There are many scriptures on the subject but here is a banger from Ephesians 4:
"Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ, God forgave you."
young hearts
The last Sunday in May will be a youth lead service. All the worship team will be made up of youth. The service will be run by an 18 year old mc and a 27 year old preacher.
Join us for a great morning with our young people taking charge. As per every Sunday the service will be followed by coffee and tea at The Sunroom cafe. Service begins at 10am.
waters of life
Recently the church made the quick trip to Woolwich where we conducted our yearly water baptism event.
We were blessed to have five people baptised and make a public declaration of their faith in Christ as well as commitment to follow Him in earnest.
Ages ranged from 8 to 60. Those baptised included a couple from Germany who have been staying in Hunters Hill as well as a new convert to Christianity in her 20s.
The water was a perfect temperature and to add the icing on the cake the sun emerged from behind clouds as Pastor Alex and Myles stepped out onto the water to receive those being baptised. A wonderful experience!
